First, we learned a card trick... He gave us simple directions and if we followed them we would be able to figure out what a certain card was without working.
I got it right! The point of the exercise was to teach us that if we followed his instructions we would be able to learn.
I got it right! The point of the exercise was to teach us that if we followed his instructions we would be able to learn. We practiced our first dive off the side of the pool. It was kind of lame, but awesome at the same time. Our coach is really good; every dive is broken down into 6 steps so that it is easy to remember. The first move was to put our hands together in front of us. Then we moved them so that our arms touch our ears. Then we bent over and pointed our hands towards a target on the bottom of the pool. Then we point our toes, then we dive in and "sign our initials on the bottom of the pool". This basically just means touching the bottom. I was not so bad at these but my ears were killing me by the third dive. I had to scratch step 6.
The next thing we did was called a front tuck something?? It was basically just rolling off the end of the diving board holding your knees, and since most of us were scared, there wasn't a whole lot of room to do this, not to mention it was terrifying sitting on the edge of the board like that.
The third thing we did was was basically just a step and a hop before jumping in. This was also scary because we tested exactly how much bounce the board had.
The fourth thing we did was starting in a cross position with our backs to the water then swinging our arms and jumping in.
Overall, it was a great class even if I was pretty scared. Oh, and cute boy was there. :)
